PERFORMANCES

With concert halls remaining inaccessible during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympia Symphony, in collaboration with local organizations, will disperse musicians out into different areas of the community, either virtually or in-person, to serve, inspire, and bring hope to those most isolated by the pandemic.

Outreach to Transitional Housing & Shelters  //  In partnership with Emerald City Music, Drexel House (the Catholic Community Services 100-unit transitional housing facility on Olympia’s Pacific Ave), InterFaith Works (operating a shelter on Olympia’s Martin Way), and Family Support Center of South Sound, the OSO and ECM provided monthly performances featuring Olympia Symphony musicians  – arranged into small ensembles to maintain social distancing – and Emerald City Music’s resident artists. Performances included music, storytelling, and dialogue with residents, occurring from October to December 2020. Sponsored by Olympic Dermatology & Laser Clinic.

Panorama Concert Series  //  Olympia Symphony small ensembles will provide interactive virtual performances for residents from March to May 2021. Sponsored by Panorama.

Outdoor Sound Experiences  //  In partnership with the City of Olympia, the OSO is creating twelve sound experiences at city parks. Park guests will access educational and interpretive audio soundtracks recorded by the Olympia Symphony via mobile devices while enjoying trails and scenic viewpoints around the Puget Sound.

Original Voices Concert // ORIGINAL VOICES brought together performing artists, government officials, and community leaders at the crossroads of community and culture, seeking ways to combat bias and violence towards Asian and Pacific Island Americans while celebrating those working diligently towards racial equity. This concert and dialog was generously supported by Women in Government and National Asian Pacific American Caucus of State Legislators. View the concert and conversation here.

Valentine's Day Concert //  Food, beverage, dessert, gifts and flowers were purchased at local businesses while enjoying an evening of music at home by Olympia Symphony musicians. We are proud to support local retailers through our Small Business Showcase. View the concert stream here.

Holiday Concert //  After last year's resounding success, the Olympia Symphony brought cheer to the community through a free streamed concert, followed by a live "Jingle Jukebox" singalong afterparty over zoom. View the concert stream here.  Sponsored by Olympic Dermatology & Laser Clinic, Olympic Rental & Landlord Services, Capital Heating & Cooling, and Thomas Architecture Studios.
